Josselin?s circumstance is not unique. It is very common in Guatemala. When I visited Juanita?s house, the first word that Juanita told me was ?I want to continue to study.? Juanita is 7 years old. She wants to be a teacher. Although she is 7 years old, she says in confidence that she wants to give dreams to her future students. Juanita?s family is in extreme poverty. When she was three years old, her father went to the US to make money. However, he began to have another family in the US, and Juanita?s family was abandoned.

She lives with her mom and her sister. Her father has abandoned her.)
